The Port of Portland has been working on a new plan to develop and manage carrier service for Oregon and Pacific Northwest shippers. To support this effort, the Port is working with a consultant team and broad range of stakeholders to develop a new path forward.
In May 2017, the Port of Portland Executive Director appointed a Terminal 6 Industry Leader Committee to provide industry knowledge and guidance to the Port and its consultant team on the Port’s future role in container shipping at Terminal 6. The committee will also consider a sustainable business model for managing and developing the terminal to support Oregon and Pacific Northwest shippers. Key questions to be addressed include:
The Industry Leader Committee is comprised of 23 members with diverse representation from exporters, importers, service providers, carriers, ports, labor and legislators with strong shipper interests. The committee will meet 5 times between June and December 2017. A recommendation to the Port Commission will be provided in early 2018.
